Organ Pipe Shovelnose Snake (Sonora palarostris organica)
Description: A beautiful slender coral snake look alike but with a white or yellow nose. This burrower is adult at about 16”. The primary colors are wide off-white bands, each containing a red dorsal saddle, and wide black bands or rings that narrow laterally but often cross the belly. Otherwise the belly is white and concave. This is a species of the open desert sands. Oviparous. The hatchlings look much like the adults. A look alike of a coral snake but with a white or yellow nose.
Habitat: This is a species of the open desert sands.
Range: In the United States it is found only in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument of western Pima County, Arizona

Diet: Primarily feeds on arthropods.
Status: Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.
