Giant Salamanders (Cryptobranchidae) of the United States
Cryptobranchiodae are known as the primitive salamanders, in contrast to Salamandridae, the advanced salamanders. It only has two living subdivisions, Cryptobranchidae, which includes Asian Giant Salamanders and Hellbenders, and Hynboiidae, commonly known as Asian Salamanders.
There is only 1 native species found in the United States.
