Valdina Farms Salamander (Eurycea troglodytes)
Description: The Valdina Farms salamander grows from 2–3 inches (5.1–7.6 cm) in length, with short legs, reduced eyes under a layer of skin, and external gills. They are grey- or cream-colored, and translucent, sometimes with pale yellow striping or white speckling. Few specimens are known, so the variability of their color and pattern is unknown.
Habitat: Springs; pools of subterranean streams. It is entirely aquatic, and mostly subterranean, found in springs deep in limestone crevices, which makes definitively establishing its complete geographic range or its population numbers very difficult.

Diet: Prey probably consists mainly of small aquatic invertebrates, but no detailed feeding studies of this species have been conducted.
Reproduction: Breeding habits are unknown, but it is presumably a larval developer like other species in the genus.
Status: Listed as Vulnerable because its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 7,911 km2, it occurs in five or fewer threat-defined locations, and there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat in Texas.
