Sequoyah Slimy Salamander (Plethodon sequoyah)STATUS





Description: Adults range in size from 46-70 mm SVL and 101-140 mm total length. Costal grooves number 15 - 16. The dorsum is black with a variable number of white or brassy spots; sides may bear numerous large, white or yellowish spots; and a few whitish spots may be apparent on the black to slate-colored venter.


Habitat: Its natural habitat is temperate forests.


Range: it is only known from Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma (although specimens possibly from the same species have been taken from outside the park) as well as a small portion of extreme southwestern Arkansas.

Diet: Invertivore


Reproduction: Little is known of the life history of Sequoyah slimy salamanders. Life history features are presumably similar to that of related forms. eproduction is terrestrial. Egg deposition sites are unknown, but probably similar to that of other members of the species group. Clutch size is unknown, but probably similar to that of other members of the species group. No reports of egg size or number.


Status: This species has a very limited range in the vicinity of a state park where it is subject to numerous threats.
